BUENA
Amelia Mathis: GPA: 3.5 Amelia has taken AP Calculus, is a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar and a Wendy’s High School Heisman Girl of the Quarter and the Buena H.S. ASB President. She has seven varsity letters – four in Track and three in Basketball. In Track she has the school record in the 800 and in the top ten all-time in the 1600. She has run on a Channel League championship team and has been All League for four years. In Basketball she was the Bulldog team captain, was honored as Defensive Player of the Year three times, All Tournament four times, All League two times and this year was selected to the All County team. Amelia plays on the State ODP Soccer team and is in the National Team pool. She is ranked in the Top Fifty Soccer recruits in the country. Amelia volunteers as a tutor at Juanamaria Elementary school and visits the elderly as Aegis Home. In the fall, she will enroll at UCLA on a Soccer scholarship where she will major in Mathematics. Geoff Schneider: GPA: 4.7 Geoff is ranked #1 in his class and has taken AP classes in English II, Calculus BC, U.S. History and Geography, English 12, German 4, American Democracy and Statistics. He is a STAR Scholar Athlete, an AP Scholar, CSF Gold Seal Merit Scholar and a Reagan Presidential Scholar. Geoff has three varsity letters in Soccer. He was named to the All Channel League team two times. He was team captain in his senior year and named to the All County team. Geoff has volunteered in 17 different activities including his church youth ministry, the Ventura County Mission, California Boys State, the knowledge Bowl and is founder and president of “Students for an American Way”. Delaney Willard: GPA: 3.3 Delaney has four varsity letters in Softball. As a freshman she earned 1st team All Pacific View league honors. She repeated on the 1st team as a sophomore and was Offensive Player of the Year with a .417 batting average. In her junior year she was All League, League MVP, All County, All CIF and named to the All State team with a batting average of .515. As a senior she repeated all of the above. Additionally Delaney tied a national record for hitting two grand slam home runs in the same inning! She is the Scorpions all time leader in home runs, RBI’s, hits, at bats, runs scored and career batting average at .424. Delaney has volunteered for the American Cancer Society and as a team statistician for Football and Basketball. In the fall, she will enroll at BYU and play Softball.
Evan Hedrick: GPA: 4.13 Evan ranks #16 in his class and has taken AP classes in Physics, Calculus BC, English 4, Government and Economics. Every semester he has been a Scholar Athlete and is a recipient of the Optimist Leadership Award. Evan has four varsity letters in Swimming. Cynthia Sanchez: GPA: 3.23 Cynthia has taken AP classes in Biology, English 3, Chemistry, U.S. History, Macroeconomics, Statistics and U.S. Government. She is a Ronald Reagan Library Scholar, has earned the Gary James Memorial Scholarship and is a finalist for the Tom Parizo Scholarship. Cynthia has two varsity letters in Track & Field and one in Basketball. In Track & Field she was second in the shot put in the County Championships. She was second in the Pacific View Championships as a junior and was League Champion as a senior. She was the Raiders MVP and qualified twice for CIF. Cynthia has volunteered in her LDS Youth group, worked at both the Strawberry Festival and Trail Clean-Up and was an Academic Ambassador. Kaitlyn Glass: GPA: 3.99 Kaitlyn has earned a Bank of America Award given by the English Department and a quarter-finalist in the California History Fair. She has earned four varsity letters in Volleyball and one in Track. In Volleyball she was All Omega League four times, the Eagles MVP three times, League MVP three times and All CIF. She was team captain and won the “Top Gun” Award which is given to the leader in kills. Kaitlyn has volunteered for the Oxnard Historic District Autumn Home Tour, the Salsa Festival and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for three years. Kaitlyn is partially deaf and is a proficient lip reader. In the fall she will enroll at Covenant College in Georgia and major in Physical Therapy. She hopes to become an Athletic Trainer or Occupational Therapist.
John Rossie: GPA: 3.0 John has earned eight varsity letters – four in Baseball, two in Football and two in Basketball. In Baseball he was All Omega League four times and team MVP. In Football he was team MVP twice and Defensive Player of the Year. He was All league two times and League MVP as a Senior. In Basketball, he was named to the All League team twice. Ashley Grande: GPA: 4.12 Ashley has taken AP classes in Physics and Literature and Composition. She is a CSF Seal bearer and a Renaissance Scholar. She has six varsity letters – four in Golf and two in Softball. In Golf she has been awarded “Rookie of the Year”, team MVP two times, All League two times and honored on the Tri Valley All Academic team twice. In Softball she has played on a league championship team and was selected to the All League team. Ashley is a member of the Piru 4H and has many volunteer activities including Coastal Clean-Up, Valentines for Veterans Project, Christmas baskets and Pennies for Patients. She was the captain of Relay for Life squad that raised $3000 for cancer research. In the fall, Ashley will enroll at UCLA majoring in Environmental Studies. She hopes to work for an organization that deals with environmental issues.
Luis Laureano: GPA: 3.7 Luis has taken AP classes in Calculus and Physics. He is a Renaissance Scholar and a member of the National Society of Hugh School Scholars. He has five varsity letters – four in Soccer and one in Cross Country. The Flashes Soccer team has gone to the CIF playoffs four times, making it to the Finals twice and winning one CIF championship. He has been named to the All Tri Valley League team three times. He has volunteered as a youth soccer referee, in his church’s youth group and in the Relay for Life. Ashley Rice: GPA: 4.08 Ashley has taken AP classes in Statistics, Language and Composition and American Literature. She is a member of the National Art Honor Society, a CSL Life member, and received the English Dept. Award for Outstanding Achievement. Ashley has four varsity letters in Softball. In her frosh year she was team leader in doubles, runs scored and walks. She tied a national record for hitting two grand slams in one game. As a sophomore she was team leader in doubles and an All League player on the Delphic League championship team. As a junior Ashley was the Lancer’s captain, All League and the team leader in every offensive category. In her senior year she was captain, All League again, repeated as team leader in all offensive categories. She set four school records and led the Tri Valley League in four categories. Ashley volunteered as a youth Softball coach, at a day care center and as a peer tutor. In the Fall she will enroll at Pepperdine University majoring in Sports medicine or Communications.
Garrett Henry: GPA: 4.03 Garrett has taken AP classes in European History, English, U.S. History, Government and Statistics. He is ASB president, CSF High Honors and the recipient of the “Daniel” Award. Garrett has four varsity letters in Football. He was All League two times and voted Lineman of the Year in 2006 and 2007. The Lancers were Runners-Up in the CIF Div.XI and won the CIF Div. XII championship. Garrett has volunteered in a local retirement home and worked packaging food at the Children’s Hunger fund. He has accepted an academic scholarship to California Lutheran University where he hopes to play Football. He will major in Forensic Science and Criminology to prepare for a career in Law Enforcement.

Erica Fernandez: GPA: 4.4 Erica has taken AP classes in English3, English 4, Spanish 4, Spanish 5, European History, U.S. History, Physics, Calculus, Government and Macroeconomics (10 AP Classes!). She has won the English Achievement award and was second place in the County Science Fair. Erica has four varsity letters – three in Cross Country and one in Track. In Cross Country she was All Pacific View League, voted Best Junior Runner and Best Senior Runner on league championship teams. She was a Wendy’s High School Heisman State Winner and a CIF All Academic honoree for three years. In Track she was voted best Distance Runner. Erica was the Migrant Achievement Club founder and president, an Academic Ambassador Club Tutor, a youth service leader at her church and a Rescue Mission volunteer. Last month Erica was instrumental in bringing the world-renowned primatologist, Jane Goodall, to speak to the Hueneme student body about the “Roots and Shoots’ environmental youth group. During four years of high school Erica has volunteered an astounding 10,000 hours of her time. In the fall she will enroll at Stanford University and major in Environmental Studies. She hopes to progress to a Law Degree.
Jose Luis Alcantar Alvarez: Jose has taken AP classes in Spanish 4 and Spanish 5. He has six varsity letters – four in Cross Country and two in Track. As a Freshman he finished in the All Time top 29 times at Mt. SAC. He ran in the CIF prelims and Finals and finished 5th in the State. He was voted Freshman Runner of the Year in Ventura County, and went on to be selected Sophomore of the Year, the County Junior of the Year and this year is the Senior Runner of the Year. Both as a junior and senior, Jose was Pacific View champion. This year he finished second in the State and was a Western regional Qualifier. In Track, he was League champion in both the 3200 and the 1600 and he was County Meet champion in the 3200. Jose has volunteered in C.A.U.S.E. against LNG and has been an English tutor in the Hueneme Adult School. Jose will continue his running career at Oxnard College.

Sasha Blanchard: GPA: 4.2 Sasha has taken AP classes in English and Biology. She is a CSF Seal Bearer, a member of the National Honor Society and school representative to the Youth Citizenship Conference. Sasha has four varsity letters in Track and one in Cross Country. She has fifty-four different awards listed in her resume. It is virtually impossible to detail all her accomplishments. That said, she has been the Regents team MVP four times, All Tri Valley League in the 100m and 300m hurdles twelve times, Tri Valley League champion fourteen times, and holds forty La Reina records. She was Ventura County champion nine times and CIF Finalist fifteen different times and broke the 16-year old County record in the 300 hurdles. She was 4th this year in the Master’s Meet and has competed in the State Championship. Sasha has volunteered in the “Let’s Make a Difference Now” projects and has fundraised over $5000. In the fall she will enroll at the University of Notre Dame.

Kaitlin Paletta: GPA: 3.1 Kaitlin is a three –year honor student. She has earned ten varsity letters – four in Soccer, four in Track and two in Cross Country. In Soccer she has been Musketeer MVP four times, All Marmonte League four times and All Ventura County four times. She has been voted the Marmonte Defensive Player of the Year, League MVP and All CIF. Her team played in the CIF Finals this year. She was a member of the Olympic Development Program 2006 National Championship Soccer team.
In Track she has been the team MVP four times. Kaitlin has worked in the Relay for Life and helped coach youth soccer teams. In the fall she will enroll in at UC Berkeley and play Soccer for the Golden Bears.
Adam Barry: GPA: 3.33 Adam has five varsity letters – three in Football and two in Baseball. In Football he started at quarterback for three years. He was team captain, team MVP and team Offensive Player of the Year. He was All Marmonte League three times and All Ventura County. Adam led his team to the CIF championship game twice. In his 39 starts, he threw for 5500 yards and 47 Tds. He was also Time Warner Player of the Week. In baseball he was a pitcher, designated hitter and first baseman. Adam volunteered once a week to help disabled men through an organization called Backyard Ministries. In the fall he will play Football for the University of Wyoming where he will major in Business.

Stephanie Elliot: GPA: 4.57 Stephanie ranks #20 in her class and in an AP Scholar with honors having taken AP U.S. History, European History, Biology, Spanish, Psychology and U.S. Government. She has been a Scholar Athlete all four years in high school. Stephanie has three varsity letters in Soccer. She was voted Rookie of the Year and received the prestigious Panther Award recognizing a combination of athletics, sportsmanship and scholarship. She was also named to the First Team All Marmonte League. Stephanie coached an AYSO Girls U-8 team last fall and has completed service projects with her church in Mexico, Romania and Uganda. In the Fall, she will enroll at UCLA, and major in Biology with the hopes of a career in Medicine.
Colby Cameron: GPA: 3.4 Colby is on the Principal’s Honor Roll and has been recognized with the Scholar Athlete award each semester. Colby has four varsity letters- one in Volleyball, one in Basketball and two in Football. In Football his junior year, he was named All Marmonte League first team and to the All Ventura County second team. As a senior he was selected team captain, repeated as All Marmonte first team, first team All Ventura County and first team All CIF. The Panthers, under his leadership, won the Marmonte League Championship and advanced to the CIF semi finals. Colby has participated in many service projects for his church. In the Fall he will enroll at Louisiana Tech University on a full football scholarship. He is undecided as to his major and career goals.

Kelsey Owen: GPA: 3.84 Kelsey ranks #23 in her class and has taken AP Physics, Calculus and World History. She is a four-year Honor Roll member, a CSF Seal bearer and a Gold Key Club member. Kelsey has seven varsity letters – four in Soccer, two in Cross Country and one on Track. In Soccer she earned All Tri County league honors four times, was team captain twice, CIF All Academic team twice and All CIF twice. In Cross Country, she was voted All League and All County. Kelsey has volunteered as a peer tutor, as a Red Cross Club officer and with the Special Olympics. She will attend and play Soccer for the University of Dayton majoring in Sports Management. Kelsey plans to work for a professional or collegiate sports program.
Albert Mireles: GPA: 3.5 Albert has been named to the Ventura County All Academic team for two years. He has six varsity letters – four in Football, one in Track and one in Baseball. In Football Albert played both offense and defense and was named to the All Tri County League team three times. His Ranger teams have advanced to the CIF semi finals and as far as the CIF Finals this year. He was named to the All County team twice and the All CIF team once. In baseball, Albert played catcher and hit .400. He was also named to the All League team. In the fall he will attend Ventura College but has not yet decided on a major.

Courtney Lightfoot: GPA: 3.9 Courtney is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll. She has seven varsity letters- four in Track and three in Cross Country. It is difficult to enumerate her accomplishments both team and individual because she has over thirty different honors listed on her resume. In Cross Country, running for Coach Kevin Smith, she has been on two Tri Valley championship teams. She has finished second and third in the Ventura County championships. Her team has finished third in State twice, second in State twice and twelfth in the National Nike Meet. In Track, Courtney was the 3200 league champion four times, the 1600 champion three times and the 800 champion three times. She has been third in the County Championship, this year winning the 1600 crown. She is also an All State runner. Courtney is in a peer group counselor and has volunteered at all local youth races. She has accepted a scholarship to University of Washington where she hopes for a career in the field of Medicine.
Sean Westgate: GPA: 3.3 Sean has four varsity letters in Football. On defense he made 360 tackles, had 16 sacks, 5 blocked punts, 4 interceptions and recovered 2 fumbles. On Offense, he carried the ball for 924 yds., had 23 receptions and 8 touchdowns. As a sophomore he was the eagles “Rookie of the Year”. He went on to be team captain twice, team MVP twice, All Tri Valley League twice, All County twice, All CIF twice and was named to the All State team two times. This year he was Ventura County Defensive Player of the Year. Sean has accepted a Football scholarship to UCLA where he will attend in the fall.

Carissa Arce: GPA: 3.4 Carissa has taken A.P. classes in U.S. History, English and Statistics and is a National Merit Scholar. She has eight varsity letters – three in Track, three in Cross Country and two in Soccer. In Track she was the Yellowjackets MVP three times and qualified for CIF six times in five events. In Cross Country she earned the Coaches Award, was All Pacific View League once, team MVP twice and qualified for CIF three times. In Soccer, she was All League twice, team MVP, was awarded the “Golden Boot” and was voted League Offensive Player of the Year. In her junior year, the Yellowjackets went to the CIF semis. Carissa was a 2006 Las Patronas debutante and volunteered at the Ventura County Animal Shelter. In the fall, Carissa will enroll at Ventura College and play Soccer for Coach Steve Hoffman. Her goal is to become a high school Geometry teacher, Counselor and Coach.
Derek Shutt: GPA: 3.2 Derek has earned nine varsity letters – three in Football, three in Basketball and three in Baseball. In Football he was captain and MVP on a championship team. He was All Pacific League three times, All Ventura County three times and All CIF twice. He was League Defensive Player of the Year twice and County Defensive MVP. Kendall Neely: GPA: 4.2 Kendall has AP Calculus and is a Trident Award Honors winner. She has eight varsity letters – four in Water Polo and four in Swimming. In Swimming she has twenty-three separate honors listed on her resume including being honored as an All Pacific League selection for three years. She has four league championships in the 50 freestyle. In the 100 backstroke, she has the best time in the County, two league championships and she is the first female CIF champion at Pacifica High School. In Water Polo she was All League four times, team MVP three times and twice chosen All Ventura County. Kendall volunteers her time to coach youth Water Polo and also takes a class in Engineering at the naval base. In the fall she will accept a scholarship to UC Santa Barbara, major is undecided.
Matt Madrid: GPA: 3.2 Matthew has taken AP classes in Statistics, European History, English 3 and Biology. He has four varsity letters in Baseball and two in Football. In Baseball he was named to the Pacific View All League team four times. He received the Coaches Award and named Mr. Baseball. Matt has also been a Scholar Athlete each year. In Football he was selected All Pacific View League twice and in his senior year was Defensive Player of the Year. Matthew has volunteered as a youth Soccer and Softball coach, belonged to the HERO Club and worked at the Relay for Life each year. Alicia Began: GPA: 4.48 Alicia ranks #3 in her class with an SAT score of 2010. She has taken AP Chemistry, Calculus BC and Physics C. She is a Reagan Presidential Scholar and a lifetime California Scholarship federation Member. Alicia has earned eight varsity letters – four in Water Polo and four in Swimming. Her resume lists thirty-seven different honors. In Water Polo she was team captain, was team MVP and league MVP two times each. She was All Area, All County and All CIF two times each. In Swimming she holds four school records, was Spartans team MVP three times, was named to the All County team and competed in the CIF and Master’s Meets three times each. Alicia volunteered at the Titan Water Polo Club as a coach. In the fall, Alicia will attend UC Davis and major in Mathematics on her way to a career as a college professor.
Gabriel Soliz: GPA: 3.75 Gabriel is a Scholar Athlete who has ten varsity letters – four in Cross Country, four in Track and two in Basketball. In Cross Country he was voted Rookie of the Year, the Coaches award, team captain, MVP, All Pacific View League four times, All County three times and All CIF. Breanna Johnson: GPA: 4.1 Breanna ranks number 17 in a class of 641 and has taken AP classes in World History, Spanish IV, English Literature, Calculus AB, Calculus BC and English Language. She is a Key Club member and class valedictorian. She has earned a Reagan Scholarship and a CIF Farmers Scholarship. In her Water Polo career at Royal she has been named Most Improved, Most Inspirational, Team Captain, All Marmonte League three times and selected for the All CIF team. In Swimming, she has received the Royal High School Scholar Athlete award four times and the CIF Award for Exceptional Achievement. Breanna volunteers at Rancho Simi Parks and Recs and Beckford Elementary School. She is also a peer tutor in Math, Spanish and Science. In the fall she will enroll at UC Santa Barbara where she will major in Biology hoping to pursue a career in the field of Medical Research.
Barry Snyder: GPA: 3.5 Barry has taken AP English and Calculus. He has eight varsity letters - four in Water Polo and four in Swimming. In Water Polo Barry has played on Marmonte League championship teams three times and went to the CIF Semi Finals all four years he played. He has been selected Most Improved, captain, Team MVP, All CIF two times and to the All American team twice. In Swimming he was voted Most Improved and was a Scholar Athlete every year. Barry has volunteered coaching youth teams and taught cancer-stricken children how to surf through the Ronald McDonald “Days at the Beach”. Jenessa Rose: GPA: 3.97 Jenessa has taken AP Government and received First Academic honors for eight semesters. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Jenessa has earned eleven varsity letters – four in Cross Country, four in Track and three in Soccer. In Cross Country she has twenty-one awards listed in her resume including finishing 2nd in CIF and 6th in the State Meet as a senior. In Track she has sixteen awards listed including finishing 2nd in the 1600 and 3rd in the 3200 in the CIF Finals as a junior. Jenessa won the Div. IV CIF 1600 in a time of 5.08 as a senior. She is a peer leader and Eucharistic minister at her church. She belongs to the Interact Club and worked helping the poor in Tijuana twice. In the fall, Jenessa will accept a Cross Country scholarship at University of San Diego where she will major in Psychology and Nutrition heading for a career as a Clinical Dietician.
Casey Serna: GPA: 3.4 Casey has six varsity letters – four in Baseball and two in Football. He has listed 38 awards and honors on his resume. In Baseball the Seraphs were league champions all four years that Casey played. He was Rookie of the Year, Most Dependable twice, Best Defensive Player, MVP twice, team captain and he hit .500 his senior year. He was All league four times, All County four times, All CIF three times, MVP of his League twice, MVP of the County two times and named to the Cal-Hi Sports All State team. Marisa Melendez: GPA: 3.6 Marisa has two varsity letters – one in Basketball and one in Volleyball. She has been awarded the Eva Laubacher Award, the Ace Award in Volleyball and the Coaches Award in Basketball. Marisa has volunteered in the Cancer Relay for Life, donating free babysitting for families in need, working in community trash clean-ups, raising money for Hurricane Katrina victims and she has tutored at her former elementary school. In the fall she will enroll at California Lutheran University, majoring in Criminal Justice hoping to become a Crime Scene Investigator.
David Ortiz: GPA: 3.9 David has taken AP U.S. History and ranks 4th in his class. He has attained Highest Honors for four years and was on the All County Academic team in Football twice and Baseball once. David has seven varsity letters – four in Baseball and three in Football. In Football he was voted Most Improved Player, team captain, All Tri Valley League twice, All County twice, League Defensive Player of the Year and All CIF. Talisa Garcia: GPA: 3.7 Talisa belongs to the National Honor Society, is a Scholar Athlete and a member of the Human Services Academy. She has four varsity letters in Softball and one in tennis. In Softball she was named to the All Tri Valley team three times and was team captain for two years. In Tennis she was also All League. Talisa has volunteered in the “Santa Paula Beautiful” project and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In the fall she will enroll at San Francisco State and major in Communications hoping for a career in Sports Broadcasting at ESPN.
Quinn Pawlick: GPA: 3.4 Quinn was a Scholar Athlete each semester. He has four varsity letters – three in Football and one in Golf. In Football he was named to the Ventura County All Academic team. He was selected to both the Tri Valley League 1st Teams and All Ventura County Teams in both junior and senior years. In 11th grade he was the Cardinal’s co-MVP repeated as MVP in 12th grade. Quinn has volunteered for the “Make Santa Paula Beautiful” project and the Relay for Life. In the fall he will enroll at Humboldt State University and major in Kinesthesiology. Samantha Fischer: GPA: 3.8 Samantha has taken AP Statistics and received a Renaissance award. She has three varsity letters in Softball. As a sophomore she hit .420 and was named to both the All Marmonte and All County teams. As a junior she hit .419, was the team Offensive MVP and named to the All League, All County and All Area Teams. As a senior she led her team to a 30-1 season record, the Marmonte League championship and the Finals in Div. I CIF Playoffs. She hit .493, led the Marmonte in RBIs, triples and home runs. She was League MVP, Ventura County Player of the Year and All CIF. Samantha has volunteered as a youth Softball coach. She has accepted a Softball scholarship to Loyola Marymount University hoping to work in the field of Sports Psychology and perhaps play Olympic Softball.
Lorne Jackson: GPA: 3.8 Lorne has taken AP classes in Statistics, Government and Economics. He is a Golden State awardee, and has won both the USAA Mathematics Award and Renaissance Award. Lorne has four varsity letters in Basketball. His resume includes 45 different awards. Lorne was team captain two times, All Marmonte three times, All Ventura County three times, All Area twice, All L.A. Times three times, All Daily News two times, All Ventura STAR two times, the Pioneers MVP two times and the county MVP. Tiffany Messerschmidt: GPA: 3.3 Tiffany has received the Academic Athlete Award four times. She has four varsity letters in Softball. In her Freshman year she was voted Most Improved and named to the All Marmonte League second team. In her sophomore year her team won the league championship and was chosen First Team All Marmonte. As a junior, the Lancers were league champions again. She led the team in average, hits, stolen bases and broke two school records. She was Marmonte MVP, All CIF and named to the All State team. In her senior year, she was league leader in hits and stolen bases. She broke school records for both career and season stolen bases. She repeated as All Marmonte and All CIF choices. Tiffany has accepted a Softball scholarship to BYU where her major is undecided.
Cyrus Kiani: GPA: 3.8 Cyrus has taken AP classes in Chemistry, Language and Composition, Government, Studio Art and Literature. He has five varsity letters – three in Volleyball and two in Basketball. In Volleyball he has been honored as Most Improved Player, Best Offensive Player and has received the Coaches Award. He has been named All Marmonte League twice and All County twice. In Basketball he had been named Most Improved and All League. This week Cyrus was named to the “Fab Fifty” as one of the top fifty Volleyball prospects in the Nation. He has volunteered as a teacher’s aide in a pre-school and at the Thousand Oaks Library in the summer reading club. In the fall Cyrus will enroll at the UCSD where he will play Volleyball and major in Management Science. He also hopes for a career playing Volleyball in Europe.

Haley Wilson: GPA: 3.9 Haley has taken AP classes in Government, Economics, English and U.S. History. She has earned three varsity letters in Soccer. Haley has been awarded the Coaches Award, the Jack Kelly Memorial Award and was team captain. She was selected to the All Channel League team three times, the STAR’s All Area Team twice and the All Ventura County team. She was the Cougar’s Defensive MVP and the Channel league Defensive Player of the Year. In the fall, Haley will enroll at the University of Oregon where she will study Business and Marketing and play Soccer.
Brian Boswell: GPA: 4.3 Brian has taken AP U.S. History, Calculus AB and Computer Science, is an Academic All American in Water Polo and is an API Scholar. Brian has four varsity letters in Water Polo and four in Swimming. He has been team captain two times, Defensive Player of the Year two times and team MVP once. As a junior Brian led the Cougars to the CIF Finals and this year was Chanel League MVP. He has been selected to the All CIF team and has been a two-time All American. Kaitlin Reilly: GPA: 3.6 Kaitlin earned the Academic Achievement Award in the Art of Photography. She has seven varsity letters – three in Track, two in Basketball and two in Volleyball. In Track she was team MVP, three time league high jump champion and chosen to the All Tri Valley League team three times. In basketball she was team MVP and two-time All League. In Volleyball she was Offensive Player of the Year, team MVP and twice 1st Team All League. Kaitlin has volunteered at an Alzheimer’s home in Ojai. In the fall, she will enroll at the University of San Francisco with the goal of becoming a psychologist.
Lincoln Sprague: GPA: 4.1 Lincoln has taken AP Spanish and Calculus AB. He is on the elite Headmaster’s Honors List and on the Frontier League All Academic teams in both Football and Baseball. Lincoln has three varsity letters in Football and three in Baseball. In Football his junior year he was an All Frontier League lineman. As a senior he was Villanova’s Offensive Lineman of the Year and was selected to both the All Frontier 1st Team and All County Team. In baseball he was an All Frontier 2nd baseman. Aislinn Smalling: GPA: 4.58 Aislinn ranks #1 in her class of 606. She has taken AP classes in Calculus, English Literature, English Language and Writing, French, Government, U.S. History, European History and Psychology. She is a National Merit finalist, CSF Seal bearer, NISCA Academic All-American, USA Scholastic All-American and a valedictorian candidate. She has earned four varsity swimming letters. Her resume lists over 71 different honors, far too many to list individually. Aislinn swam on four Marmonte League championship teams, been honored as the STAR First Team All County four times, her team won the 2007 CIF championship. She has been named to the All America First Team in the 200 and the 500 freestyle. This year she anchored the Warrior 200y relay team that broke the CIF record and her team was the CIF Runner-Up. As a junior she broke a 23 year old record in the 200y free and is the current record holder in the 200y and 400y freestyle relays. She is a four-time team MVP. Aislinn has volunteered for novice swim meets, been a host student for the EF Language program and worked in service projects for the National Honor Society. In the fall, Aislinn will enroll at Princeton University where she will major in Neuroscience preparing for a possible career in Sports Medicine.
Jordan Mannisto: Jordan has eight varsity letters – three in Football, three in Baseball and two in Soccer. In Football, Jordan was selected All Marmonte League for three years, All Ventura County twice, All CIF twice and All Area once. He was named to the Cal-Hi Sports and All State teams. He set the County records for field goals kicking goals of fifty, fifty-one and fifty-two yards. He averaged forty-two yards per punt. Playing Soccer, he was All League, All County and Marmonte Goalkeeper of the Year twice each. As a Baseball player, he was starting pitcher for three years, team MVP once, All Marmonte once and All Ventura County once. Jordan volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity and helped out feeding the homeless at church. He has now accepted a Football scholarship and will kick for the University of Houston. He hopes to become a pro kicker.
CALIFORNIA LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY
Casey Anderson: Before her time at Cal Lutheran, Casey was a three-sport athlete at El Toro High School in Orange County. While attending CLU, Casey participated for four years in the heptathlon event for the track team, and served as a team captain for two years. During her senior year, Casey broke the school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.09 seconds. Additionally, she is ranked second in CLU history in the 400 meter hurdles, with a time of 65.16 seconds, after having run the race just twice overall. She is also ranked in the top 10 CLU Track All-Time performance lists in 5 other track and field events. This year at SCIAC Championships, Anderson finished with two second-place finishes in both hurdle races, a fourth place finish in the high jump, and a fourth place finish as the anchor for the 4x4 team. In the heptathlon, Casey is ranked second all-time at CLU, and earned herself a spot at the National Championships with a total point score of 4378. While at NCAA Division III Nationals in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, she competed and placed 16th overall in the Women's Heptathlon.
Connor Pearce: Connor played Football at Modesto Christian High School in Modesto. This year he became just the third NCAA Div. III All American in CLU program history following a season in which he recorded a personal best 71 points. Connor is a two time First Team All SCIAC selection. He led the conference kickers in scoring, field goals and field goal accuracy. His longest punt this year was a 69 yarder. He has been All West region First Team, All SCIAC twice and an American Football Coaches Association All American kicker. Connor graduated from CLU with a degree in Psychology. Although he is hoping for a career in Professional Football he is planning on a Marriage and Family Counseling credential to fall back on.

Jessica Zuehlsdorf: GPA: 3.85 (Collegiate) Jessica has been on the Dean’s List for two years at Moorpark College. She has two varsity letters in Soccer and one in Basketball. In soccer, as a freshman, she was named to the Western State Conference All League team and was won the Moorpark College Outstanding Achievement Award. In her sophomore year she was Moorpark’s Scholar Athlete of the Year, the Raider’s MVP, First Team All League, All State and All Western Region. In Basketball, Jessica was voted Most Outstanding Freshman and won the Champion of Character Award. Jessica volunteers at the Oxnard Union Rescue Mission and is also leader of her church high school youth group. In the fall Jessica will continue her education at Westmont College where she will major in Psychology. Her career goal is to earn a PhD and become a psychologist.

Jenna Holly: GPA: 3.0 (college) Jenna went to Alta Loma H.S. where she earned four varsity letters in Softball and was team MVP and All Baseline League First Team for four years. Playing Softball at Oxnard College she has hit .390 including 12 doubles, 3 home runs and 43 RBIs. She led her team in stolen bases and slugging percentage. She also led the conference in triples and was selected unanimously to the All Conference team. Gabriel Gonzalez: GPA: 3.0 (college) Two years ago Gabriel sat here in the audience as Hueneme’s Athlete of the year. Since then as a Soccer midfielder he was Freshman of the Year and All Western State Conference First Team. As a Sophomore he led Oxnard to the first Soccer championship in the Condor’s history. Gabe remarkably NEVER received a yellow card or a red card!! He was team captain, First Team All WSC and Player of the Year. This fall he hopes to transfer to Westmont College.

Indira Kaljo: GPA: 3.63 (college) Indira played high school Basketball at Montclair Prep in Sherman Oaks. Her work ethic and leadership led the Ventura College Pirates to a 29-6 record and 12-0 in league. She was named All Tournament three times – at Glendale, Ventura Kiwanis and Sequoia. She was team MVP and won the Top Scholar Athlete Award. She was First Team All Western State Conference, Second Team All State and an Honorable Mention All American. Indira received offers from Santa Clara, San Jose St., UTEP, Washington and Cornell. She has chosen Tulane University in New Orleans.
Chris Golder: We received limited information about Chris. Playing Football for the Pirates he was team captain, team MVP, All WSC and An All American for the number one pass defense in the State. He has a full scholarship to play Football at West Virginia Wesleyan University.
