The Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame has been in existence since 1983. The organization was formed to honor the many great athletes, coaches and sports contributors who are part of the sporting history of Ventura County.

The Hall is a non-profit organization and depends solely on donations to operate, with all funds being used to finance the induction ceremony expenses and scholarships to student-athletes. The annual induction banquet attracts approximately 400 guests from all over the county and is covered by the Ventura County Star.

Their Annual Golf Tournament raises funds for both our Scholars and for Breast Cancer Research. This event will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Los Robles Golf Club. Nominations

The Ventura County Hall of Fame is a monument to excellence.  Each Member of the Hall of Fame is a reminder of the triumph of the human spirit. They are proof that the capacity for excellence exists within each of us.  We share the accomplishments of our fellow human beings even as we honor them.  Recognizing distinguished athletes, organizers, sports media and coaches and honoring their achievements is the objective of the Hall of Fame.

Please see Eligibility Requirements for Nomination instructions.

Athletes of the Year

Ventura County high schools, community colleges and California Lutheran University are represented at the Banquet by a male and female Athlete of the Year chosen by their administrations. The STAR sports reporters then vote for four consensus County Athletes of the Year from this pool. The Hall of Fame Athletes of the Year are highly athletically and academically accomplished young men and women. The biographies of last year's athletes are available on this Website.

Recent Successes of Former County Athletes

• Former Moorpark High football star Dennis Pitta had a huge hand in helping the Baltimore Ravens win the Super Bowl champoinship in early Feburary. Pitta, a tight end, had four receptions for twenty six yards and scored one touchdown.

• Former Grace Brethren football standout Chad Kackert was named the Most Valuable Player in last November's Canadian Football League's Grey Cup. Kackert led the Toronto Argonauts to the league championship by rushing twenty times for 133 yard and catching eight passes for sixty-two yards.
