country team. The team competed in MU meets as there was no

two State championships and placed 7th In the Nationals. Sandy

the Seawind League, an unofficial league, which Instituted
games for
girls in several sports. Sandy moved to Royal High School
in 1968 and continued to coach cross-country and track and
field and
became the girls' athletic director. In 1973 the CIF Southern
Section officially recognized girls' sports and track and
field was the first sport to take part in CIF play-offs. Sandy
had a large contingent of Athletes at that meet, and at every
CIF meet after that. Many of her track athletes placed in
CIF and state meet and in 1975 her team was the Southern Section
CIF Champions. Sandy continued as the girls' athletic director
until 1988 and as the track and field coach until 1990. Her
teams had more that 100 dual meet wins, six league
