Stephen Hoffman
 

 

Born:  June 14, 1956, Southport, England
Southport Polytechnic College – 1978

Stephen Hoffman began his coaching career in Ventura County in 1983 as Assistant Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at Buena High School.  His rise was meteoric, in high school, youth soccer and college.

In High School he became Head Boys Varsity Coach at Agoura Hills High School, and received the 1996 High School Referees Association Sportsman Award.

He moved to Cal Lutheran University as Assistant Women’s Coach, and his program won SCISCA championships for 7 consecutive years, and appeared in post season NCAA in 1993, 1994 and 1996.

In 1996 he became Head Women’s Coach at Ventura College., where his record presently stands at 210-36-32.  His teams have won the Western State Conference 11 times, and have a current conference record of 149-6-9.  Coach Hoffman was selected State Conference Coach of the year five times.  He is very proud of the fact that 96% of his players graduate with their associate degree.  His teams have competed in the California State Regional finals four times.  He has coached 72 Western State Conference First Team Selections, 47 Second Team Selections and eight All-Americans.

 

Coach Hoffman has been very active in youth soccer.  He is Director of Coaching Education and Player Development for the California Youth soccer Association South, Southern California, where he oversees all aspects of the Olympic Development Program.  He has been head coach of a number of youth teams where he has evaluated, selected, trained and coached players, both boys and girls, from the ages of 12 through 19, developing players and winning numerous league championships and tournaments.

He has won numerous awards, including Coach of Year in the Western States Conference 5 times, West Region coach of the Year, nominated for National Coach of the year, District 7 Honoree for Outstanding Service, and many others.

He shares his expertise generously, presenting at many clinics conventions and symposiums.

Coach Hoffman, who lives in Ventura, is married to Kathryn, and they have three adult children, Melanie, Joey and Jaimie.
