The Dedication Ceremony of the Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center on October 21st, 2006 included the installation of the permanent home of the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame. Finally, after 24 years, the Hall is able to properly honor the one hundred and thirty one inducted Members. The plaque display will be rotated so that all will eventually be spotlighted. The initial presentation is the Inaugural year-1983; the twelfth year - 1994 and the twenty fourth- 2006.
Speakers at the celebration included Dr. John Sladek, the C.L.U. President, Jacquelynne Fontaine, C.L.U. 2004 and currently Miss California and Dan Kuntz, C.L.U. Athletic Director and annual Hall of Fame Banquet Master of Ceremonies. Keynote speaker was Cheryl Miller. USC, Professional and Olympic Basketball star. The Building was formally declared open by the cutting of a basketball net. Gail Kanney, Chairperson, represented the Hall.
Only half the Hall exhibit is open. The other side will include a TV which will run this web site with touch screen navigation.
