Eligibility Requirements for
Nomination to the Hall of Fame
The Hall itself does not solicit nominations. It depends on the
Community to bring worthy candidates to its attention. Nomination
Questionnaires –also known as “BIO”s – may be acquired from any
Committee Member or downloaded from this Web site. They may be completed
by the candidate or an agent. Posthumous nominations are accepted.
Download "Application
for Hall of Fame" form.
Send completed Nomination "Bios" and Photograph to
Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame
3347 Greenville

The completed Bios are scanned by the Rules Committee which determines
if the candidate meets the requirements needed to be forwarded to
the Selection Committee.

Selection Committee
The BIOs are sent to the five members of the Selection Committee.
This Committee is separate from the General Committee and is responsible
for choosing the Inductees every year. The members rate and rank
the BIOs for worthiness, meet once a year in January and vote the
selections for the following June Induction Banquet. The five members
represent all areas of the county -both up and down the Conejo Grade
– and have lengthy, extensive knowledge and awareness of the athletic
community of Ventura County.
Induction
The new Members are inducted at the annual banquet usually held
on the third Saturday in June. The banquet has drawn an average
of 460 guests the past few years, representing a wide county demographic.
Until the Hall is enshrined at the projected North Athletics Complex
at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, the event will
take place at the Marriott Ventura Beach Hotel in Ventura. The Member
plaques are displayed on the mezzanine where the pre-dinner social
hour is held. During this time period the new Inductees are interviewed
and photographed by the Ventura STAR and the student athletes are
checked in.
County Exposure at the Banquet
The five Inductees bring an average of fifteen to twenty guests
each. The remaining three hundred to three hundred and fifty attendees
are the previously installed members and the families and friends
of the student athletes. School administrators have been purchasing
tables (of ten tickets each) to provide the opportunity for coaches,
teachers and other school personnel to support their athletes of
the year. The Hall covers only Ventura County schools – the southern
border is Oak Park, east are the Simi Valley schools, along the
101 freeway to Nordhoff in Ojai. We include public and private schools.
The Ventura STAR gives the Hall generous press coverage.
